Another Vintage birthday card

I made this card for my Aunt Ruth's birthday.  She's always been very special to me and I thought she deserved a special card.  A lot of love went into the making of this card, but I enjoyed every minute of it.  I hope she enjoyed the sappy note inside, too. Happy Birthday, Aunt Ruth!

Big Shot class projects

I had a great day today stamping with some wonderful ladies.  The first project we made was this cute little Easter basket made with the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor box, but then we used the FREE border punch from the Sale-A-Bration catalog to change the edge of the basket and the handle.  Don't you just love that Very Vanilla Satin ribbon?  It adds such an elegant touch.  This was the second project.  I call it "Birthday Surprise" because it is filled with lots of little surprises.  It starts with textured cardstock (surprise #1).  Notice that sweet little butterfly on the front.  Big Shot sizzlet.  Love that little corduroy button!  Have you noticed a "texture" theme here?  The envelope on the front of the card has a surprise inside (surprise #2) and there are more little butterflies flitting about (surprise #3).  Do you see that chocolate chip strip at the bottom?  Well surprise!  It's on the inside of the card and those cute little raised polka dots are made using the Perfect Polka dot embossing folder.  You may remember from previous posts that I just LOVE that embossing folder.    And our third project of the day was something completely different (Monty Python?)  We made these sweet little flowers using the scallop circles, some funky little nylon/polyester blend fabrics and more corduroy buttons.  We added some heat with a heat tool and lots of patience to get them just right.  Pin backs were attached so that we could attach them to other things.  What a fun project this was!

Hello, Birdie!

Did you know the cute little milk carton die (117310) makes the most adorable little birdhouse?  Of course you did.  Even I can do this!  I used the new Extra Large Two Step Bird punch (117191)to make the bird and the Sending Love DSP (117153) for the wing, shingles and frame around the opening in the birdhouse.  Did you notice the "window"?  That's a little square from the Seasonal Pieces Window Sheets(115706).  The tag is made using the new jewelry tag punch (117190) and don't you just love that red satin ribbon (117286)?  But wait - are those eggs in there????  If you look closely, you can see they are the new speck-tacular egg shaped M&Ms!  Cute and yummy!  Won't this make a cute favor for my spring tea?  Oops!  I may have given away the surprise!  But wait!  There's more....the bird's eye is made from those fantastic little rhinestones in the Eggcelent Eggs Kit (117179).  There's so much product packed into that little kit for only $9.95.  This stuff is just way too much fun.....you should join me for some creative crafting soon.  Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Another Vintage Card

Like I said, I like vintage style, but this card has a fresher feel to me. The base of the card is actually Pretty in Pink, but I covered the face with Sweet Pea DSP that I ran through the Big Shot with one of our texture plates. Love that effect! Of course, no project is complete without a bit of ribbon and I tied a simple knot using the new Pretty In Pink satin ribbon for one flower and reversed the knot using Kraft taffeta ribbon on the other flower. The color spritzing tool helped make all those great little speckles, then I sponged on some color using the sponge daubers. The colors are very "spring" and I think we are all ready for some of that!

Vintage Birthday card

I really like the vintage style and had a lot of fun making this card. I played with the wheel to create the background and I added shimmer paint to the flower and the leaves. The ribbon is from the Orchard Ribbon Originals collection and I love, love, love the corduroy buttons! I made the card specifically for someone's birthday. I hope she liked it as much as I do. ???
